My husband and I recently adopted a second dog and she’s obviously been through some trauma. Whenever she sees my husband, she loses her mind and just barks. Our first dog was similar, but not as extreme so we never had any issues with him. But it’s taking longer for our second dog and the neighbors have complained so now we’re pressed for time to get her used to him. We started spraying her with water when she barked, which is effective but it’s making her regress in every other way. Now she doesn’t bark as much, but she spends a lot more time hiding and running from us. Is there any way we can break this habit without making her anxiety worse?
