One of my 5-6 month old rescue kitties is quite shy and doesn't like to do much besides sleep in their cave, eat, and play occasionally. His sibling is the exact opposite - very outgoing and constantly around us. How can I help the shy one to be more confident and not scared all of the time?

I'm hoping there is a way to get him out of his shell and I'm worried that his dominant extrovert brother has something to do with him being shy. When I separate the two, the shy one is much more into playing with toys.

Should I carry the shy one around and have him sit on my lap when watching TV to get him used to being with me or leave him in his bed and try to coax him out with treats and let him decide when he wants to take these various steps to improve his confidence?
