Should I buy my dog a cone

So my lovely little girl has a history of ear infections, never really knew what caused them but we clean her ears once a week now and always keep her in a well ventilated area. Her ears would get irritated around this time of year.

She hasn’t had an ear infection in about a year and a half, which is great! But I’ve noticed one of her ears is looking a little more pink than usual and like it has some scabbing, likely from scratching at her ear too much.

The thing is that this doesn’t look anything like the ear infections she would get. With the actual (yeast, I believe they were) infections her ears would be dark red and have that dark brown goopy discharge.

Am I safe to assume it’s just irritated from scratching? and should I buy her a cone to wear for a while so it can heal and continue cleaning it for her? My husband and I haven’t worked in almost three months and we’re living off of savings so I’m really trying to avoid a vet visit if I can (because I know from experience it’ll run me between $200-$300), but I just need to know that it doesn’t sound like an alternate kind of infection she just hadn’t had in the past...of course I’ll do what I have to do for though.
