Thinking bout getting a parrot, any tips? (Haven’t trained a bird in years)

My grandma used to have a Amazonian parrot and it was the cutest thing. His name as Titó and he was super shy and would scream a lot. I remember feeling super accomplished when I gained his trust after a couple scars on the hand and him hopping around and whistling. After a couple attempts, the bugger realized I wasn’t a threat and planted one hand on me, and the rest was history.

It got to where anytime I would come over, he would open his cage and fly to my shoulder and just chill while yelling my name haha. He loved rubbing his head against my stubble and would regularly peck my ear for fun lol. Anyways he was older than me (I’m 17, he was about 20) but he has been stolen for sometime (ironically the night Trump got elected, with his whole cage being taken too).

I miss taking care of birds because he inspired me and I wanna own another bird so I can feel that connection again. I was thinking something exotic like a parrot or a golden pheasant, but I dunno which I should get. I like both because of how pretty they look, but I also want the parrot so I can teach him how to talk and such. Which would y’all recommend?

TL:DR: which should I buy? A golden pheasant or a parrot for a single story urban home?
