Butter, my pet mouse, came from a pet shop in my city a number of weeks ago. He is very averse to physical contact.
I'm not trying to hold the little guy, but corralling dude into the plastic roll-around ball so I can change the bedding clearly stresses Butter out; I'm talking hiding in his house, ignoring the hamster wheel, n eating/drinking less for a day or more. I've tried different treats in hope that good food would make him more comfortable, but I haven't had any luck.
It seems like Butter is mostly blind; he responds to noise but does not seem to notice a quiet person approaching unless they cast a shadow (he also has vibrant red eyes).
Any advice is welcome, but specifically: -What food does your mouse love? -What sort of enclosure does you happy mouse have? -What does Butter need that the guy at the pet shop probably didn't mention? -What tips you got for a happy mouse?
Thanks.
