Yesterday my mother and I adopted Cyndaquil, he's a mix of Chihuahua and Shih Tzu. He is a supposedly week old (i think he's a little less, like maybe 5 day's or such) and doesn't even have his eyes open yet. He's incredibly small and is the size of my hand (imagine a hamster). I have been feeding him only formula as he is a baby and can't eat food yet (his mother is absent..).
Problem 1: He shivers a lot and I thought it may be that our house is cold (AC is always on because we can stand the heat for one second) so when he sleeps I place him comfortably with blankets and such in my closet with a heater so he doesn't get cold, while we don't get blasted in heat (it's very nice and warm in there, super cozy, just my family can't handle warm in the slightest). When I peak in there he still does small little jitters. I am unsure with what's going on or if its just him and his baby state.
Problem 2: I'm scared that I may be overfeeding him. I give him half of a bottle of formula (1 tablespoon of formula and 2 tablespoons of warm water) about every 3-4 hours, I'm not sure if I should give him the whole bottle there an then or if I'm doing something wrong.
It's the first time myself owning a dog (I have many experiences with dogs as my brother, who lives with us, has had a pitbull since a baby and I've been feeding it, taking it for walks, trained it to go up and down the stairs of our porch, etc. I'm not new to dogs by any means, just never had full ownership all by myself of a dog[especially new-born])
