Hello everyone! My finance (31M) and I (24F) have just moved in together and we have been at our new residence for about 2 weeks. However his kitty (3f) has been acting very strange towards me.
We used acknowledge each other in passing with pats and slow blinks. If I’m asleep she’d snuggle me and we could sleep together. Now she’s very possessive and aggressive towards me. I know cats are creatures of habit, but once my fiancé’s work schedule changed from 9-5 to 12-8, she wants me to feed her in the am, even though he feeds her when I sleep. In the mornings she gets angry for food and will trap me on the stairs or in the bathroom when I’m getting ready. Once I feed her, it doesn’t get much better with her following me in between my legs.
When I come home, she’s VERY clingy. She will lay cross my lap and sometimes expects me to carry her? Before, she didn’t want to be held for more than 5mins and now she wants to be cradled. If I look at something else too long she’ll demand attention.
When my fiancé comes home, she says hello and acts the same towards him. However if I’m not on the bed or in the attic, shell look/yell for me. When I’m trying to eat, she’s trying to go into my mouth with the food, so I lock her out and holy shit guys, I have never seen/heard a cat tantrum like this. The yelling is one thing, but she’s ripped off the bottom of our (cheap) bedroom door.
I have been advised to get her toys but she’s never really played with toys nor really used a scratching post when she was at his house. I would give her cat-Molly drugs but she’s not into nip. Plus when I try to feed her (to buy some time/separation) she doesn’t even eat it because she’s not actually hungry. I really don’t know what to do and I apologize for the walls of text :/
