So, my pup had a bit of an episode today. Just for some info, he is a beagle mix, he is almost 13, he's in good shape and active. Walks are normal for him.
We just moved to a new city and wanted to go out exploring. We took the pup with us and brought water for him because it was a bit hot today. We were only really out walking for about 30-45 minutes because he started to slow down, so we saw that as a sign that it was time to get him inside. He drank a little bit of water on his walk, but wouldn't drink much. So we get back home, and as he usually does, he plops down on the floor in front of a fan. My MIL came over and we decided to go out and get some drinks and food.
This is a good 4 or 5 hours after our walk. We get back home and are unpacking some boxes, when I walk into the living room and my dog is standing in the middle of the room looking really unsteady, he pooped on the floor, took a couple of steps towards me, and laid down. I looked at his gums and they were very pale, so i brought his water dish next to him. He seemed like he had some labored breathing. His eyes were still open, but he was pretty unresponsive.
My MIL sat down next to him and dipped her fingers in the water bowl and dribbled some water into his mouth. This seemed to perk him right up and he got up and drank water for a solid 2 minutes. It seemed like his blood pressure just dropped or something and he fainted.
I do plan on taking him to the vet on Monday, I've been wanting to get x-rays of his heart to make sure everything is good anyway. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with similar at all?
He seems back to normal now, besides being tired. He's walking fine, he's eaten, he's drank more water, jumped on the couch, etc.
