I love dogs too but man something about cats just gets me. Other than the fact that they are way easier to take care of, but with cats when you EARN their love it feels so much more special.
My cat is two years old now I have had her since she was a 6 week old and let me tell you it wasn't the easiest two years. There was a point of time where I did not like her but I dealt with her because she was my cat and I didnt want to get rid of her. The time and patience I spent with her rewarded me so much that in the end I never thought I would love a living creature that wasnt a human as much I love her.
A lot of people still don't like her she's a "mean cat" meaning she ignores other people and doesn't care for them to love on her. She never hides but she just wants to be left alone
Me on the other hand she searches for my attention meows for me when I come home every time I wake up she's in my bed. I could sleep until 3pm ( with a full food bowl ) and she won't leave my bed until I do. Its amazing because the bond I have with her is nothing like I've experienced and what makes it even better was that it took time for us to get there. I know she fully trusts and likes me and out of all the people I live with she still seeks me out and it makes me so happy.
People don't realize cats aren't like dogs yes there are some cats who are friendly as can be but they don't need you and they know it so when a cat likes you...well you know they truly like you.
