I had been living with my boyfriend and his parents for a year and we finally moved into our own place. After 2 months in the new apartment we decided it was time to have my dog live with us (he had been staying with my parents.) My mom had always told me that because of my dog, my sister was getting all these itchy bites and she thought it was fleas or allergies. At some point he also developed patches of hairloss and scabs and when I took him to the vet, they said it was allergies to fleas and gave me medication for him. The medication worked and stopped the itching and hair loss, and I also have been giving him Simparica every month since then. Recently the patches came back and when I took him to the vet they said it was some kind of allergies again and they made a mistake thinking it was fleas. They gave me medication for his skin infection and for the itching but they havent really helped at all. He still gets really itchy. And now that he lives with us, me and my boyfriend are getting bites as well. He's an inside dog, I give him baths once a week with a flea killing shampoo, but we can't figure out what is causing his bites and ours. I suspect maybe chiggers? Is there any kind of repelent I can use on him that will actually keep them off?
