I own a gorgeous 1 year old golden retriever. He is naturally a massive softie, wouldn't harm a fly (literally he caught a fly once and it survived). He has always been quite nervous, which we found odd as we did all of the puppy socialising at the start and exposed him to as much as poss. Anyway this is fine be cause it just gives him hilarious character...he jumps at everything and it's quite funny.
Anyway, because of his nerves, weve always been careful not to make him feel uncomfortable, never tell him off unless absolutely necessary (he has been a perfect puppy from the start, never had to discipline him for anything apart from peeing on the carpet once or twice).
Anyway, I'm not sure what has happened in his mind but now, all of a sudden, he cowers near me, wont let me take him out for a wee, comes downstairs and runs back upstairs when he see's me etc etc.
Its breaking my heart, every time I call him over, he runs away and it's really making me sad. Hes fine with my partner which kind of makes it worse for me as I haven't given him any reason to be scared if me :(
What can I do to ease his mind, apart from the love and gentle affection I've been giving him? I want my puppo back.
