I recently adopted a cat last Saturday. It’s been a bit rocky as the cat is extremely nervous and likes to hide. He’s recently stopped hissing at me, lets me pet him and he loves the attention while I’m in his room. I’ve gotten him out into the open house the last two days and I’ve also closed off the dusty crawl space he’s been hiding in (though he keeps finding a way through)
Anyway today’s the second day he’s out and he walked around the house exploring and meowing loudly (I believe he smells my old cat and is looking for him) He’ll come over for pets and lay by my feet while I’m playing a video game but but I tried playing with him in my very small hallway and he didn’t seem to interested and as I was stepping over him to do something in the hallway he meowed a couple times and I spoke to him in a gentle tone. I was standing between him and his room so this may have been the issue of sudden change in behavior but he suddenly growled, hissed and lunges at my leg (drawing blood) and then ran into his room. I shut the door since he seemed a bit overwhelmed but is this normal behavior? Should I worry about this? Is been a week and he seems to go back and forth between liking me and seeing me as a threat. He seems to keep trying to herd me almost aggressively too but the people i adopted him from didn’t say anything about him being aggressive
