Hi everyone,
My wife and I just moved into a new home and brought our cat with us. Our cat Lilith is about 6 years old and has lived in my parents house away from us for half her life (I lived with her - in my parents' house - until she was bout three. She was my cat, but unfortunate circumstances kept me away from her for the second half of her life.) As of of Sunday June 9th, she has been living in our guest bathroom so that she can acclimate to the house. She seems to be getting better and worse everyday and my wife and I are a little worried. We kept her in the bathroom with the door closed until Wednesday and slowly have been expanding her space as she has wanted to explore more. As of yesterday though it seems she is too scared to leave the safe space we have created for her and requires a decent amount of coaxing for her to even come out - sometimes as little as my wife or I being near her and talking to her will bring her out, but sometimes she needs the extra cajoling of treats to even peak around the corner of her little box and even then sometimes she won't completely come out. (We have an amazon box flipped upside down with a little door cut out of one side that she is hiding in. Today we cut another hole out of another side so that she could see the movement that was happening and not just be looking at a wall.) She also seems to not want to explore anymore and runs away as soon as she takes a step too far out her zone and hides under her safety box all day.
If anyone could offer us any advice or anything it would be appreciated. Is this normal? Are we going too fast?
Thanks.
