Thinking of getting rid of my cat the I’ve had for over a decade

I feel horrible even considering it. She’s very sweet and my wife and I adopted her over 11 years ago within a month of moving in together.

The problem is she’s 15 and pees EVERYWHERE. Sometimes her litter box but equally often in the hall way, living room, bathroom, you name it. She throws up a lot too but that’s not something she can control and doesn’t make as much of a smell.

With the peeing, it’s almost defiant. She started peeing in front of the door to my office room. I built a little barricade in front of it with boxes and a chair. She wiggled through it boot camp style just to pee there yet again.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to mask the smell of cat pee in our home. We’re embarrassed to have people over and really just want to feel like we’re clean people again.

Can someone talk me off the ledge or give any advice? I love animals and this is not something I would normally consider doing but right now I want my house to feel (and smell) clean again.
