I have two dogs and a cat already. My 3 year old German Shepherd and my 2 year old Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier get along great with our 1 year old cat (or kitten if you will). They play with her and love her. My dogs have been around other cats too, and are curious about them but never hurt them or anything like that. I'm looking to rescue a particular cat from a shelter to keep as a companion for her when my dogs are outside/kenneled for the night. The one I'd really like to adopt is an 8 year old neutered male who unfortunately has diarrhea issues. I was talking to the lady at the animal shelter today via email, and she was saying that they've done testing and tried many different things with vets in the past year and a half and can't figure out why he has this issue, but that he just has to take a probiotic everyday, and that he ALWAYS goes in the litter box, so I'm not worried about that part. He is BEAUTIFUL and I'm already in love with him, but I'm just wondering if he will be too old for my basically kitten? The lady said that this cat LOVES other cats and gets along with dogs, which makes me hopeful. Plus, my cat is pretty laid back, but they don't offer meet and greets for cats prior to bringing the cat home because it causes too much stress which is the only part that makes me nervous, as my cat hasn't been around any other cats since we adopted her out of her liter.
