So our cat has generally been an absolute angel since we got her around Easter time. We’ve had a couple of litter accidents, and after learning to never leave an empty container she can climb into accessible to her, they’re generally just a case of her missing the box.
However, over the last week or so she has started weeing in the corner by her boxes instead of in them. I scold her when she does this and clean it up with strong cleaners. Her boxes are clean, they do need a proper scrub but I’m wanting to put that off for a couple of weeks until we go on holiday so it can all soak and dry while she’s in the Cattery before we head off.
I would have thought that the boxes were why she’s going outside but in the general area, but she still uses both of them frequently for everything. My current thinking is that I haven’t been able to access some remaining wee while cleaning and so she still thinks it’s ok to go there.
The only other thing I can think of is that I’ve got a new job that makes me work evenings / nights and my partner has been on his stag nights the past two weekends, so maybe she’s stressed. But she does this mostly while at least one of us is in the house.
How can I get her to stop, or any ideas as to why she’s doing it?
If we can’t get her to stop the plan is to move one of her boxes to that spot so then she’s using the box anyway, would that work?
