Change to feeding routine to cut back on mess

Hi there,

My dog has IBS (he's an ol' pup) and about two years ago I put him on a bland diet: cooked white rice, baked chicken breast, id canned food, and his pills mixed in. I give that to him breakfast and dinner plus some treats and other stuff to give him a little variety. It has worked wonders.

Except that it's a mess. I feed him in the kitchen. My dog (Collie) will eat and little and then take a drink and always drags rice to his water bowl. So his water gets filled with rice quickly. He also knocks rice and smears the id food all over. I'm constantly stepping on rice and slipping on this stuff in the kitchen. He will also often get food stuck on his nose and then walk around depositing rice and id everywhere. It just gets stuck on him. Some of this is him in general being a gross eater.

Does anyone have any ideas on perhaps how to feed him, or some set up I can implement, to reduce his mess? Really getting tired of sweeping 10x a day to avoid stepping on rice and it's near unavoidable on days I work at the office because I cannot periodically clean throughout the day.
