We've all heard them, those really dumb things someone says regarding a pet and you're not sure if your brain is leaking out your ears?
Let's hear'um! Bad pet advice, medical or otherwise!
This one stands out as a duel "that's not how this works" and "bad pet advice" I live in a northern Ontario community and in the winter it gets cold. Like, -40c cold. I had a doctor's appointment and had started my car a few times (remote start) before heading out. My service dog has never been a fan of the cold, and even with her coat, jacket and boots on I knew it wouldnt be long before she would get cold, so not wasting any time I pried a door open and had her jump in. In comes random neighbor who just moved into my apartment with her aggressive yorkie, telling me I shouldnt leave my dog in the car. I kindly explain that I'm not going anywhere, just moving around the car to scrape ice and snow off, and she frantically tells me that "She'll suffocate! She'll run out of air!" At this point I'm puzzled, as the cars exhaust is very clearly clean and open, and I'm standing next to the car and can see my dog watching me. She then goes on to tell me I should leave my service dog inside my apartment, come out to my car through the icy parking lot to de-ice the car, then go back in and get her 🤦🏽♀️ Lady, what kind of service is my dog doing me inside my apartment?!
I've also had countless people tell me, while petting my late basset hound who ate a raw diet, that raw meat makes an animal crave blood, that they become a loaded gun and completely unpredictable. Their brain always explodes a bit when I ask them if eating too many bananas gave them the urge to climb a tree? All while my hound is wiggling and trying to get as many belly rubs as possible.
Also, you should never sleep with kittens, they might attack your face and eat your eyeballs.
