What steps can I take to alleviate my cats meowing? (Female 4 year old, spade, adopted as a kitten) She has an automatic feeder(we call it her robot overlord) set to feed her 1/8 cup of dry cat food 3 times a day(Royal canine, hydrolyzed protein). She gets her portions at 6am, noon, 6pm. She is of a good body weight, and feeding more is out of the question.
She has had this food, feeder, and schedule for almost two years now, the issue is she still constantly meows for food almost roughly 1-1.5 hours before feeding. We do not cave in and feed her, as the automatic feeder makes it easy for us to avoid doing so, but this hasn't stopped her meowing.
Even though I have not filled her dish in years she will still wake me up at 5am. Its particularly egregious with her 6pm feeding, she almost always starts becoming vocal around 4:30pm. She will just sit by us, and meow. I've tried playing with her (works until about 5-10mins after we stop), removing her from our space (She will just meow and paw at whatever door is closest to us)
This isn't a situation of "we will throw the cat out if she doesn't shut up", as we love her basically with all my heart, but good grief if it doesnt wear us down some days.
