My cat won't stop peeing outside the litter box!
So this is going to be a longer post but I'm frustrated. We have three cats, all males. Our first cat is older, but not exactly sure how old. The second is a year and a half, and the third is my childhood cat who came to live with us a year ago this month. My childhood cat came to live with us after developing peeing issues shortly after I left for college and since moving in with us has had few problems (we solved the one issue by closing off the one area he liked to pee). But our first cat has always had some issues. When we got him he had already had a surgery for crystals. He had developed those crystals again but they are now gone and prevented with a special diet. However it seems that he is still the one peeing on the carpets of our rental property. I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on training and encouraging an older cat to use the litter box. We have four litter boxes in two rooms, the kitchen and the second bedroom. We have tried attractant litter but it made no difference. We are both gone from about 7am-5pm sometimes later. They eat on a fairly regular schedule. They don't all get along but more or less coexist peacefully as far as we can tell when we're home. Rehoming is not an option.
