My boyfriend and I live in a loft apartment, so we have a wooden ladder instead of conventional stairs, and we recently got two new kittens. Well, one of them decided he loves to pee on the bed RIGHT as we're going to sleep. So we have to get up, unmake the bed, take a shower, remake the bed, and do laundry the next day. This has happened at least five times in the past month, we took him to a vet to make sure it wasn't underlying health issues (which it's not), so it just seems like it's a territorial thing. We've tried blocking off the stairs with a barrier but they always find a way to either shimmy around/through it, or just jump over it. Baby gates wouldn't work because they're so small (4 and 6 lbs, 3 and 7 months old), and we don't want to use ssscat because we're afraid they might fall down the ladder and hurt themselves if they get suddenly scared like that, plus it would only increase their stress levels. We can't use oils or scents to deter them because my boyfriend and I are sensitive to smells, and we don't want to use sticky tape because then we'd step on it and possibly fall ourselves and we'd have to constantly replace it to keep it sticky. Is there anything you've used that worked like a charm?
