I recently adopted two kittens, so I'm not trying to adopt another animal anytime soon. But I do want at least another cat in the future, maybe two, and I have been thinking about it. I just see posts from humane societies and rescues and it makes me want to adopt again. I think for my next cat, I'm going to try and adopt an older or senior cat since my kittens have been somewhat stressful for me by just being curious kittens.
I'm not sure how to judge when is a good time to adopt another cat though. I'm a graduate student, so I'll definitely be moving when I graduate in a year or so, and hopefully getting a full-time job. Right now that's when I'm planning on sitting down and seriously considering getting another pet. By then, I'll hopefully be somewhat settled in one place, my kittens will be adults, I will have had them for almost two years, so it seems like a good time, as long as I can afford it.
I worry about rushing into it though and ending up not being able to afford or being overwhelmed with caring for three cats, so I wanted to see what others have thought about when planning to adopt another pet. What are some things I should make I'm good on, financially and otherwise, when I feel like it's a good time to adopt again?
