I want to convince my dad to adopt a pet

So context, I'm underage, so I can't buy stuff for the animal, that's the biggest reason why I don't have one, and I think it's valid, so I want a way around it. My dad doesn't think I'm mature enough to have a pet because when I was younger I wouldn't take care of the ones I have, but he doesn't think I changed. I'm able to convince him that I can take care of the pet, I'm ok with cleaning their poop, feeding them every morning, doing research on the animal(I already do that), walking them if they want (I don't have much to do anyways), and I love training animals, so the big reason really is the money. To get around paying for vaccines i think it's better to adopt an animal from another owner. What animal can I have that, doesn't cost much to have, isn't large, preferably can walk around the house, so no fish or hamsters, and doesn't mess up furniture? This is I think my last shot at getting an animal without having my own house, so any help is appreciated.
