My dog will not stop chewing anything of mine he can get his paws on! Why???

To start off, I have a 3 year old Labradoodle named Oscar. A year ago, I moved away to college and Osc lives at home with my family. When I'm away, Osc is pretty well behaved, stays out of the trash, doesn't destroy anything, etc., according to my family but when I come home for holidays, he gets himself into everything.

I've been home for 3 weeks and had to buy more underwear because he kept eating/chewing holes in the ones I brought home with me. He absolutely shredded one of his tennis balls which he hasn't done since he was a puppy. He suddenly has become a counter surfing dog which he NEVER does. He somehow got up onto my dresser and chewed up a bottle of pills, thankfully he didn't consume any (I counted). He got into my bedside drawer earlier today and chewed up a tube of steroid cream. I try to keep my bedroom door closed at all times but if I run to the kitchen quickly, forget to close my door, and come back, I find that he's gotten into something of mine.

What I want to know is- Why does my dog become so destructive ONLY when I come home and why does he only target my things? Is he angry that I'm not living at home anymore?
