My mom is constantly feeding our family dog human foods like cheese and butter and fatty foods and he has hip problems so I try to tell her that it won't help his hips the bigger he gets. She will feed him a second can of food once I go to bed (the big cans for big dogs) and he is a MEDIUM sized dog. He has a larger torso and short legs so she thinks if his stomach isn't level with his chest he is under weight. Is there any scientific papers I would be able to send her to make her realize this isn't helping him but hindering him?? Any advice on how I should handle this? He doesn't like walks because he poops out at different times even with pain meds and doesn't like being carried (will nip if I try to pick him up as he is a rescue and it triggers him) so I can't do regular walks. We don't have access to a pool either so he can't swim the weight off. Any suggestions would help!! I can measure his height if that's relevant to get better advice? Or however I should measure him.
