WARNING - bad "Petuber" Kristen Leanne is giving out terrible advice, and actively neglects, hoardes, and abuses animals.

I'm writing this more as a warning to anyone on here, especially the young or impressionable, who might try and mimic her animal husbandry. She is a semi-successful beautytuber who also has a pet channel called kristenleanimal. She acts as though she is well educated in animal care, often giving out advice or attacking those who try to advise her by saying she knows better, when in reality she is an awful human being who should not be around animals. A (short, incomplete) list of her crimes are as follows:

  • Her pom, Leo, got sick and the vets advised that he be held overnight on an IV. For $300. She said no and called the vets stupid, and refused to pay, bitching about the cost, despite her claims of being a "self made millionaire before 30", having bought two pairs of Gucci shoes that week ($750 EACH), and buying $900 worth of patio furniture that day. He started pooping blood later that day, and said she was going to take him to the vet. 8 hours later she posted on SC that Leo was now vomiting and peeing blood, and still hadn't seen a vet. He was eventually put in an incubator, and KL went on vacation while she was sick.

  • in fact, she repeatedly complains about vet bills being too expensive so opts to treat her pets herself at home (or not at all) based on (mis)information she finds online.

  • even with their naturally short lifespan, her rats and hamsters rarely survive a full year in her care. KL attributes this to old age, despite the fact that ALL of her rodents have shown signs of disease, poor health, and illness in the months and weeks before their passing, when they weren't sick when she got them.

  • She washed her hamster in listerine and alcohol every single day to "cure" its skin condition (which actually looked like its scent glands). Unsurprisingly, the hamster got worse, lost most of its fur, and died.

  • after one of her hamsters died of an alleged contagious viral infection, she replaced it with a new hamster in the same cage. This hamster also died within a few months.

  • Despite knowing she housed her panther chameleon inadequately, she refused to change his cage setup until he had ripped out almost all of his claws and was struggling to climb properly. His poor feet were a mess.

  • she also houses said chameleon with toxic plants

  • she has "cuddled" reptiles while they are on their backs, insisting they like it when they are clearly distressed

  • she feeds her reptiles out of their enclosure (in plastic tubs) and with tongs.

  • she regularly vacations or leaves town for days, weeks, sometimes even a month at a time. She then complains about her animals not being cared for in her absence, despite arranging the care herself (and typically with the same person) every time she leaves.

  • she ordered a pixie frog from a sketchy website that MAILS live animals in the post without adequate airholes or anything on the package to indicate it contains a live animal. She seemed surprised when the pixie frog arrived deceased, and promptly ordered a new one to replace it.

  • Her (now former) rescue pugx was not house trained, and instead of training him herself, she scolded him, regularly locked him outside, and forced him to wear a daiper. She later got rid of him.

  • she habitually touches her frog with dry, ungloved, unwashed and unclean hands

  • one of her fish allegedly leapt out of its tank. In the following weeks, two more fish died, as well as a snail, all due to her failing to clean their tanks properly.

  • she illegally owned ferrets (which are banned in California), meaning they would not have adequate access to appropriate vet care or appropriate food.

  • she has been repeatedly called out for not feeding her reptiles regularly enough. Notably, she feeds her tree python just one small fuzzie mouse a week, one so small it cannot even coil around it.

  • before her move to Nashville, she housed her rabbits in a drafty and dirty garage. Their nails are badly overgrown, they had only a rug to chew on, and they had only limited and occasional access to fresh grass.

  • she now keeps her rabbit, Penny, in close proximity to her ferrets, and has complained about Penny's new "fearful" behaviour.

  • she feeds her rabbits a terribly imbalanced diet. She considers nuggets/pellets "cruel" and instead brags about the fresh salads she makes her rabbits, though they are filled with nothing but banana (at least one daily), and high sugar fruit, vegetables, and salad greens. She also complains about hay, due to an alleged allergy, and in several IG/SC stories they have empty hayracks.

  • like her rabbits, she refused to feed her hamsters pellets, and actively encouraged selective feeding of musli mix but providing more of their favourites.

  • her reptiles seem to have issues with proper diets, as they have struggled with shedding and egg laying.

  • she kept (possibly still keeps) bearded dragons on ground walnut shells

  • she housed two leopard geckos together, insisting they were cuddling when they were in fact exhibiting aggressive behaviours

  • she "rescues" animals by buying them on Craigslist, funding backyard breeders and contributing to the abuse of animals.

  • she attacks anyone who tries to correct her or offer serious advice, typically siccing her followers on them.

  • she buys animals to use as accessories, and frequently becomes frustrated on camera when they do not act like props.

Current pets - one dog - three rabbits - three ferrets - two sugar gliders - one African bullfrog frog - one crested gecko - two leopard geckos - one panther chameleon - one tegu - at least three bearded dragons (possibly 4) - one green tree python - one ball python

In the last 2 years she's also lost: - one monitor lizard (gave away) - three hamsters (dead) - three rats (dead) - three fish (dead) - one snail (dead) - one pixie frog (dead) - one rabbit (gave away) - one dog (gave away)
