How Can I Stop Caring About the Family Dog

Hi. I am 17. My family adopted a dog when I was in ninth grade and I love him. He is so cute and small. However, I always get anxiety and am stressed about his wellbeing because I personally don't feel they take care of him well. They just feed him random stuff without looking up if the food is safe for him, they don't make sure there isn't random stuff on the floor for him to eat, etc. They just want him to say they have one I feel like personally. I am most disturbed by the fact that when my dad is upset with the dog and the dog won't listen or something, he hurts the dog in some way. When my dad takes the dog on walks, he yanks the collar and chokes him with the leash because the dog is so small that he isn't all enough to not hang in the air. My little brother recorded the incident. I can't take the stress of not knowing if the dog is okay and I am about to move out hopefully after senior year.

How can I begin the process to stop caring about the dog, I really cant take the mental stress it is causing me and no one in my family cares about the dog enough to stand up to my dad. I don't want to have anxiety each time my dad or someone else takes him for a walk. I don't want to have anxiety when my family just gives the dog anything to eat. I'm tired of caring and I need relief. I am already going through enough.
