hi all,
I'll be adopting a cat very soon and was looking into getting pet insurance for her. during her vet visit with the foster mom, she was spayed and it was found she has a heart murmur. They said it's common but should also be looked at with an echocardiogram just in case (cat is ~6 months old they think).
While looking into insurance I see that since I'd be getting the echocardiogram based on the vet's recommendation before I had insurance that it won't be covered, even though the cat was not in my posession.
I'm wondering if I just wont ever be able to actually get her insurance to cover this or any condition that arises from it because of this initial vet visit? Seems crazy to me.
Admittedly, I was unethically thinking of getting insurance and then going to a vet right away myself to get a checkup without revealing that she'd already had one that I was aware of (obviously they'll see she way spayed). Do they even have a way to verify if I got info on a heart murmur previously? Really would prefer not to do that, I know it's wrong, but I'm frightened of what I might have to pay over her entire life if it's found she has a heart disease that I need to get her on meds for.
I appreciate any insight and wondering if anyone was in a similar position. I may get some hate for the previous paragraph and I understand but just trying to explore options.
Thanks
