Newly adopted cat has not eaten yet

Hello!

I've seen similar posts here regarding this common question - but I was wondering how long should I wait before taking it to the vet?

So far my 1 year old, male, newly adopted cat has not eaten anything in 24 hours. I even tried feeding it some of the dry food that the shelter provided. I also tried 2 different wet food cans, and a can of Tuna to see if that would entice it.

I should add the my cat has a URI and I currently need to give it medicine via syringe, so maybe that's why it doesn't have an appetite?
