6 month old dog growls at kids when tired/hungry

Need some advice. We've had our dog for 2 months and she is GREAT, except for one thing: she's consistently aggressive to our kids 7, 9 and 11 year olds when tired/hungry.

They love her, and do not tease or over stimulate her. And she loves them when she is not tired or hungry.

We've been crate training her and taking her to obedience training as well. We also have worked on her food hoarding fears by have kids over "treat" her on and off meal times.

Today we went for a long hike with her, and she was really tired. We got home, ate, and then fed her. After, I was in "her" room with her (and she was done eating!), and when my 7 year old walked to the door, she snarled and ran at him and even bit towards him.

We put her in her crate for a nap, and just took her out to pee and hang with us. The 7 year old came in again to say goodnight, and she snarled again. In a mindless moment, I got angry, shouted NO, and dragged her back to her crate :(.

What are some suggestions on how we can end this cycle? Again, she's great with our family. We would ideally be able to feed her near us someday, and have her not be scared we're going to take her food away, and she should be able to regulate her mood even when tired. She's likely going to grow to be 120 lbs, so really want to handle ASAP!
