Young Cat has too much energy for my other cat

So I adopted a young cat (young). Our current cat is super sweet, gentle and loving so we made sure to try to get a calm younger cat so that first cat wouldn't get to stressed by the move in but unfortunately the behavior of the kitten changed a lot and this new kitten has a tendency to pounce on the other cat, bite, scratch, etc. And my first cats behavior is changing to more timid and less loving in general she's much less comfortable with this kitten around and she's too gentle to do anything but hiss fight him off and run of. and me and my significant other are very worried and not to mention being driven crazy as well. I can deal with training a kitten. but the first cat is a emotional support animal who we care about more than anything and I cant deal with my cats life being worsened and her behavior changed by this kitten. we pull him away and put him in a separate room to play with toys when he bothers her, I don't want to have to return him he is a sweet heart but I am genuinely worried that he would be happier with someone with more time and space for him to play and a cat that wants him around. I could really use some outside voices here so any tips or opinions help thanks!

TL:DR; new kitten has too much energy and pounces on my cat and my cats to gentle to play like that. Would kitten be happier elsewhere? or should I train more?
