For the past month or so, my 8 year old Labrador has been getting up earlier and earlier each day. She used to sleep like clockwork until about 7 AM. She then started getting up at 5:30AM a month ago and wanting to eat breakfast and go for a walk. She runs to her bowl and starts crying. After eating she runs to the door as If she wants to go out. Originally , i would take her for a walk and she didn’t even go to the bathroom until an hour or so later. The past few weeks she’s been getting up at 4:15 AM and wanting the same thing (food and a walk). It’s driving me nuts because we have very small children who get up early and the dog tends to make a lot of noise when she gets up. I’ve called the vet and the vet said that she doesn’t have an explanation as to why this is happening but to be firm with the dog and tell her to go back to sleep. That does absolutely nothing… The whining just gets louder and louder. It’s like she is a different dog.
