My cat, Bug, is 16. I got her when she was 13 and she only has 2 teeth, one on the top and one on the bottom. Because of that, she gets fed soft food.
I wake up early for work, 350am-420am depending on the day. My cat and dog get fed at 4am and 4pm daily. Starting around 230am, she will start to meow to wake me up, she sits right outside of the door and meows non-stop, if she is ignored she will jump on the bed by your head and will even lightly claw your face/hair to wake up.
I have tried earplugs and those are very uncomfortable. I have tried putting her in the spare bedroom and shutting the door, and I can still hear her meows and claw marks on the door. She also has the personality to poop on the floor if she is angry locked in a room. I never give in and feed her until my alarm goes off. It has been driving me crazy to sit through an hour of meowing every morning, I don't know how my girlfriend sleeps through it.
One thing we tried is having my girlfriend feed her around 10-11pm before she goes to bed (she stays up later than me). That has not helped at all, it actually made Miss Buggy worse. Now she meows and annoys my girlfriend from 8pm-feeding time, and still wakes me up around 230am.
Is an automatic feeder the way to go? I am going insane with the lack of sleep. 7/365 she wakes me up. All this being said, she is the sweetest and cutest kitty ever. She is always hanging out and thinks she is the alpha dog of the house. She is very spoiled but one thing we have not been doing is giving in to her meows to feed her early, as hard as it is.
