Hello! So I have a male black cat that’s going to be a year old next month. He and his brother (a male gray shorthair, same age) were adopted by my fiancé and I in January. We just moved to a new apartment two weeks ago and my black cat keeps slamming into our bedroom door at full speed in the middle of the night. My fiancé and I are confused by this behavior - he did wrestle with his brother at our door sometimes in the last apartment, but this seems to be entirely a solo behavior and it’s LOUD. We live on the 3rd floor, we’re terrified of disturbing our downstairs neighbors, as it nearly sounds like a gunshot when he does this.
We never let him in our bedroom in our last apartment (and we’re not really letting him in now) and he has free reign everywhere else in the current apartment, so we’re not sure what’s up? Is there something we can do with the door maybe to stop it from rattling in the frame when he hits it? Will this behavior stop on its own?
