For years I had been in the habit of working out before work and “for years” I mean my entire career. Especially when my shifts were all over the place, having a set “pre work” routine was very important and my daily work out was part of it.
That disappeared in the pandemic. Now I stay in bed until the last possible moment. It’s been frustrating and I have done stuff like setting earlier alarms, going to bed earlier, hydrating more during the day and at night, planning out my fitness routine, etc and nothing has helped. Even on the weekends, I end up trapped in bed.
Today I realized it is my dog’s fault. She is technically crated trained but has slept in the bed since my late husband realized she was trained enough not to pee in it. Normally she sleeps by my feet, same place she always slept.
But these days, in the early hours of the morning, she belly crawls up the bed to snuggle into my arms or otherwise contrive a way to use me as a bed/pillow. I am typing this one handed on a phone because she has her two forelegs wrapped around my dominant arm and has her little face buried in my hand. And I don’t get out of bed when this little angel is using me as a bed.
Which is why I am not doing my pre work workout. Because I am busy being a bed to an already spoiled dog. But I also don’t want to be mean and wake her up when she is already sad that working from home doesn’t mean I cuddle and play with her all day.
