Getting a new cat in my household

So I am a student living in a small house with my girl and 2 cats that can go outside. We might get a new roomate with her own cat.

Could it happen that my cats run away if a new cat joins the household or is it more likely that they will become friends, my cats are territorial, but not aggressive, lovely and sweet and they love us alot, sleep in our room, sometimes even in our bed so we have a strong bond, do I have to be concerned or not?

Any experiences?
