Help! I’m devastated to say the least. Possibly TCC cancer in dog.

My Sheila is now a little over 11 years old and I’ve had her since she was a puppy. So I consider her my child. The vet visit hit me hard today.

My husband took her to the vet today, because she started peeing since yesterday. Then we noticed that sometimes her urine had some blood in it. So we suspected she could have an UTI, so we took her to the vet. We thought we’d get antibiotics and be on our merry way, but the vet was concerned.

He said it wasn’t normal for UTIs to cause blood in urine. So he wanted to do an X-ray to check for bladder stones. He wasn’t sure if he saw anything so he performed an ultrasound. On the ultrasound, he saw a suspicious mass, so he tried palpitating it and it wouldn’t budge. This made him more concerned because he couldn’t move them.

He suggested performing an exploratory surgery tomorrow and if he saw a small mass that he would be able to remove it. Bigger masses on the other hand are more problematic.

What a nightmare! We are not sure what happened. Does this seem like normal chain of events at the vet? Is this all normal procedure? I’m so perplexed by this because my Sheila acts normal, other than the frequent peeing in the house since yesterday. She eats, drinks, plays, etc...
