So I’ve had a faux leather backed couch for a few years and my two cats have slowly ruined the back from constantly racing across the back of it whenever they get the zoomies and decide to chase each other. Now me and the wife are in love with this new leather couch we want to buy but aren’t even considering it because we know the cats will ruin this one too and it is a much more expensive couch.
Is there any real solution? Trimming their claws is an impossible task (we’ve tried more times and “techniques” than I care to admit and it’s always a futile endeavor) and we make sure they have good quality scratching posts.
Would cat shelves around the apartment be a good alternative or will they still use the couch just as much as the shelves?
