How much per month for a pet cat?

I’ve always wanted a cat but my mom is allergic so i’ve had to wait until i moved out. i’m in college now across the country and only go home for a few weeks like twice a year and i have roommates. one of them has a cat that I LOVE. i love her so much. but she’s moving out in a few months and i’m literally heartbroken knowing i won’t be living with her cat anymore and i’ve been thinking of adopting my own. there’s a few senior cats available, female like 10 years old. I really want one. but i’ve never had a cat before only dogs so honestly i feel kinda lost idk. i need food, litter, toys, treats, a cage(??) but what else? and about how much would you say one spends a month on cat necessities? the ones i’m looking at are already spayed but of course they still need well visits at the vet. i’m just curious if it’s crazy expensive owning a cat, i don’t want to bite more than i can chew considering i’m a college student. but i honestly need a non-human companion. and a dog is too much. any insight is greatly appreciated.
