I just got back home after just two days of vacation and my 3 year old male cat is acting extremely odd.
He usually gets aggressive during playtime which for him is normal. But every time I go to the kitchen (where his food and water are) he follows me like normal and on our way back he hisses and has tried to swipe me. He has never done the hissing before.
He is usually a love bug and my speculation is that he is upset I left him and got rubbed up on by other cats. I have showered and changed clothes since but he is still mad at me for going into and leaving the kitchen.
He is laying down right next to me as I type this. He seems to be fine if I'm sitting in my bed and even willing to be coddled in my lap. But as soon as I leave he acts like I insulted his mother.
I plan on scheduling a vet visit for him tomorrow per the advice that I've seen for others with similar issues. But what he's doing doesn't seem to be a common behavior.
Any advice would be appreciated.
