Proudest Poop of My Life

So I’m 5 days into hand rearing an 11 day old kitten that was orphaned, and in those 5 days she has never been a consistent pooper. First two days we had her she didn’t poop at all, and at 56 hours no poop we grew concerned and took her to the vet, where she got an enema and pooped a ton.

But then she started getting diarrhea, having accidents in her basket around every mealtime. I was in panic mode because I knew the threat of dehydration posed by diarrhea. Luckily I figured out the cause was that the formula we were using, that was given to us by my aunt who’s cat had the kitten, was spoiled because it was opened, not stored in the fridge, and well over 3 months old, given that it was used for my kittens mother as a kitten. Got new powder and could tell the difference immediately in it. Started feeding her that with some unflavored pedialyte to help rehydrate her, and kept a super close eye on her.

Well finally, my baby Yodi has had her first consistent poop with me. It wasn’t the perfect texture, but it had the shape, it had the color, and it wasn’t too stinky, and here I am at 6 am, the most excited and proud papa ever.
