Yesterday afternoon my neighbor informed me her cat has gone missing. We share a balcony separated by a sheet of glass and her cat comes over every day to hang out with my dog. We are on the 3rd floor and there is a straight drop down from the gutter, which the cat often climbs around in. Its extremely unsafe for the cat but the neighbor doesnt care. Well now he is gone and she thinks he climbed into a nearby tree and then down, but he could also just have fallen. Yesterday I was downstairs in the garden all day mowing the lawns. It was really noisy so however way the cat got down, he didnt stick around because of the noise. We live in a somewhat rural town and were right at the edge of the woods.
The neighbor left on a trip immediately after telling me the cat is gone and gave me her keys so I can return him if he shows up. I'm really worried about the cat because he is strictly indoor and it has been a day and a night now and he could be anywhere. He is a young neutered male, under a year old. I read that indoor cats normally hunker down nearby when they get out because they're terrified, but how far could he have gone if the garden outside the house was noisy all day?
