The time my dog decided to not listen to us looking for her in the woods.

Hi all!

I was laughing with my dad about this story just now so I thought I’d share it to Reddit!

So for context, I have a now 10-year-old Siberian Husky named Juno. She’s an absolute sweetheart, but like many dogs, she gets into trouble every so often. This is a story from about 7 years ago, when she was around 3 or so. I’ve honestly since forgotten exactly when this took place.

When Juno was old enough, we trained her on an electric fence, as our neighborhood didn’t allow full fences around our property. Anyways, every so often, she would get loose. Unfortunately, one of those days, she got into the woods. My parents ran into the woods to look for her, while my brother (M16, at the time) and I (F13, at the time) were still inside eating dinner.

After we finished out food, our parents were still out in our woods calling for the dog, so my brother went out to help them. I could hear them calling, “Juno! Juno!!” I really didn’t want to go out, since it was pretty bad weather, but eventually, I decided to go out to help them. As I was walking out, I could still hear my family in the woods calling for my dog.

As I passed between the property line of my and my neighbors’ property, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I looked over at our neighbor’s porch……and there was Juno, happy as a husky could be. She had been watching and listening to my family calling for her, and my mom almost in tears at the thought of losing our dog. But, there she was, sitting on our neighbor’s porch, staring at me.

Immediately I got her in the house and cleaned her up, not before telling my parents though. We had a good laugh about it, and it is something that still brings a smile to my face.
