I'll tell you the situation of our 2 dogs, the one in question never does anything a normal dog does and it feels uncanny and we can't figure out what were not doing.
We have 2 dogs, both female, both picked picked up from the street under unplanned circumstances.
Dog1 has been with us for nearly 7 years and is aged maybe a few more months than that. Everything is seemingly fine with her right now so not gonna talk about her.
Dog2 is old and has been inside the house for 2 years. She's maybe 10 years old and used to live on the street and had a maggot infested lump the size of a fist in her throat when we discovered her so my mother sent her to a shelter for treatment. She came back fully fixed and currently that wound is old news. She was living on the streets a few weeks after coming back but seeing that she was old and had a limp(her front legs are weak) my mother brought her inside.
She's vaccinated and all, and had a rashy back and a ton of fleas but that's dealt within the 2 years. She sleeps on some mats(thick enough) in a room connected to the front door. There's just sofas in that room and nothing else so there's no business for anyone to spend time there. Not gonna lie, she's there mostly alone except for the few times my mother or I go and pet her.
There's nothing wrong with the room, it's just like any other room and there's blankets for her during winter and a ceiling fan plus a table fan aimed only at her during summer. I'd say the temperature is not a problem.
She gets fed 4 times a day, breakfast and evening snacks, plus lunch and dinner which are either chicken and rice or fish and rice and sometimes those premium dog snacks too. She eats everything no problem, and more times than not vomits everything out if she drinks too much water and also because she's old. I think that too is reasonable for her age...she has filling meals, and she pukes if she drinks too much right after eating.
She spends 23 and a half hours just lying on the floor and sleeping and does absolutely nothing else except for the times my mother takes her out for pee and poop. She doesn't really want to go out and has to be pushed(nothing serious) and comes right back in after she's done with her business. Not like we're keeping her from going out. She had heat last year and had to be let out because she was yelling all the time and probably screwed at that time but never got pregnant. Instead had a pseudopregnancy in March and the meds made her a little sick but that's taken care of as well.
We try to interact with her every now and then, but she does nothing with us. Weve tried to play with her many times but all she does is look at us with wide eyes. She never wags her tail and doesn't make one drop of sound except for when maybe she stumbles and falls and let's out a little yelp. She pisses, shits and pukes around the room but nobody ever hits her....mom might just shout at her a little like she was a child but that's it.
The only one concern is that dog1 has been hostile to her on occassionally but we never let her close to her. The maximum she's got to do is bark at dog2 before she was taken away.
So yeah that's everything about dog2 and my question is why is she so docile? She's old and doesn't want to move alright but I've seen older dogs wag their tail atleast. She does nothing- absolutely nothing. If youre inside the house you won't even feel her presence. If anyone walks past-strangers included- she just lifts her head and stares and them and that's it. She literally lies/sleeps for more than 23 hours and sometimes gets up from her mats and goes to a different corner of the room and lies on the floor.
