I am planning on moving in with a roommate into a 3 bed 2 bath townhome. She has a dog (golden retriever) and I have a cat.
My cat has never been around other animals before except when she was at the shelter before we got her (we got her at 8 weeks, and she’s 1 year old now)
I love my cat more than anything in the world. She is my absolute best friend. If I did anything to cause her stress or to be unhappy with her new life and home I would honestly hate myself and regret signing a 12 month lease for this place.
I am so conflicted on what to do. I’m scared the dog will hurt or god forbid even kill her, I’m worried that she can’t have any toys on the floor like she does now because they’re small and the dog could swallow them or destroy them, Im scared that I won’t even be able to leave her food out for her because the dog will eat it all, im scared her and the dog will not get along and she will be so stressed in a place that we literally have to stay in for a year, im scared that she will have to be locked in my bedroom all day when right now she has a whole house and basement to run around and play in, and all around im just really worried I’m making the wrong decision.
Has anyone ever done anything like this before or have any advice? Thanks for reading.
