To set the scene, my boyfriend wants to adopt a dog that is around a year old and we are moving next week. He met the dog today and I told him I would love to get him, but we are moving next week. I told him I think it is best if we wait until we move because I feel that it would be too stressful on the dog. We also have two cats that are his and he told me they have lived with a dog in the past and did really well with the dog. I personally, want to wait because I think that is too much change for the dog and also the cats are going to be stressed moving and I don't want to overwhelm the cats and the dog. Unfortunately, we cannot place a hold on the lovely guy for more than 24 hours. So my question is, am I being too over-dramatic? I just don't feel like it is the best time to get another pet until we can devote our attention to adjusting him to a new home. Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated!
TLDR; moving out next week into a new apartment. Have two cats and wanting to adopt a dog around a year old. Would adopting the dog be alright, or would be doing unnecessary harm to him with all the change.
