I’ve just adopted a kitten. We stayed in our home for 2 days and on the third day we brought the kitten to a cousin’s house (about 11-12 miles from our house) for his birthday. I left the kitten on the second floor for 4-5 minutes because I was called down to the first floor to take a picture. When I came back she was gone. We searched every nook and cranny of the 3-storey house, which includes a wide-opened third floor used for laundry. The kitten was hiding under a bed while I was gone, I think because she’s unfamiliar to the place and wants to hide. Could it be possible that she escaped through the third floor? Can I expect her to come back? I did not know how old the kitten was, but probably 2-3 months old.
