1 month ago, my 4 year old Pekingese mix was diagnosed with IVDD. It started with her yelping and crying when picked up and her back was hunched, then a few days later she started walking very wobbly and I noticed she back paws would “knuckle.” I immediately took her to the ER where they said it is likely IVDD. She has been on crate rest and medications ever since, and her walking seems totally normal to me (except 2 weeks ago she had a flare up, which I attributed to the fact that she escaped from her crate while I was at work and when I got home she jumped up on the bed and ran around). While her walking seems normal, she is still hunched a little though. Her energy is great, she doesn’t yelp when picked up, and she seems happy. I plan on keeping her crated for another 2-3 weeks.
If your dog recovered from IVDD (no surgery), can you tell me about your experience? Also, did their back remain slightly hunched? I’m not sure if she is considered recovered if her back still seems hunched.
