My fiance and I were looking for a kitten to adopt yesterday since our senior cat passed away. (7/20/21) we found a post on Craigslist for a little black female kitten, a man found her outside of the hotel he works at and took it home. He stated that he already has 2 rescue cats and that he's at his limit. We called him and he agreed to bring us the kitten for a $25 rehoming fee. He brought the kitten to us but he wouldn't accept the rehoming fee stating "I changed my mind. we've only had the kitten for a day. I trust you'll take care of her." Early this morning he sent us a text saying "my wife has been crying her eyes out all night. She got attached to the kitten. Can I come pick her up at 8am?" What should I do? Am I required to give the kitten back to him? I feel bad for his wife, but I think this is absolutely ridiculous!! Please give me your input. Anything is appreciated
