I have two cats that are slightly over 10 years old. Past couple of years one of the cats has been apparently standing up when peeing so that it’s become an issue with trying to keep the litter box area clean. I have two litter boxes and have to put lots of barricades around them in the basement so that the pee doesn’t stain the floor or other areas. It’s getting tiring trying to come up with ways to minimize the problem. I noticed there are new styles of litter boxes out there these days. Some are top entry and then others have covers. I’ve gone through so many litter boxes trying to find the right one. Currently I have two that are tall on the sides but apparently not always tall enough. Several years ago I had one with a top but my vet said that sometimes cats don’t like that and I had found one of my cats had peed outside the litter box so he said to remove the top. I think the culprit in this case is the male cat. Wondering if others have had issues with the litter box spraying and what type of cat box you’ve found effective to help contain this. Thanks!
